May Bank Holiday weekend weather in Somerset: 

Met Office issues weather warning and this is when it will affect you
The UK’s usual grey and showery Bank Holiday woes shouldn’t be an issue as people start to look ahead to summer.

However temperatures are not expected to soar as high as they did during a mini heatwave in April.

Across the three day weekend of Saturday (May 5), Sunday (May 6) and Bank Holiday Monday (May 7) most places in Somerset should see at least a bit of sun.

But some parts of the county will be largely cloudy, despite the warmth.

Eleanor Bell, principal meteorologist at The Weather Channel, said indications for the holiday weekend were good.

She added: “We are looking at 19-21C for the Bank Holiday weekend in the south with some warm spells of sunshine for many.”

Why will it be so warm?
Forecasters at The Weather Channel say the jet stream will be sweeping north by the end of the week, dragging southerly air with it and allowing milder weather to take hold.

Confidence drops through the following week but the temperatures are expected to remain on the warmer side of normal with maximums in the mid-high teens C.
